Endocrine and Infections chapters launched
Endocrine and Infections chapters now available on the West of Scotland Formulary
Two additional chapters of the West of Scotland Formulary have now launched. Developed with input from colleagues across the region, the Endocrine and Infections chapters are now available on the website and mobile app.
Endocrine
While Diabetes makes up a large part of this chapter, we also have recommendations for a wide range of endocrinology topics. This will be enhanced later this year when formulary choices for Diabetes devices and sundry products are also added to this section.
Please note that while bone metabolism and menopause topics will be included within the Endocrine chapter, they are being developed separately alongside the Musculoskeletal and Obstetrics & Gynaecology chapters, so will be added to the formulary at a later date.
Infections
This chapter has been developed with input from across the region with recommendations for a range of conditions. The focus is largely on primary care with a view to complementing existing local secondary care guidance.
The regional formulary will not cover all eventualities. As with any condition; patient specific factors and sensitivities need to be considered. Formulary advice should therefore be considered alongside any local guidelines.
Further recommendations will be added in future with a secondary care focus (e.g. HIV, hepatitis, TB). Until then prescribers should refer to local guidelines and Board formulary choices.
You can use this page of the website to keep up to date on formulary development progress.
